Copper Harbor Wastewater / Water Utility System Operator
Grant Township within Keweenaw County, Michigan is currently accepting resumes for a Wastewater / Water Utility System Operator for the community of Copper Harbor.
Certifications: Applicants must be, or have to ability to become, certified in Michigan Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) Department certifications L-2 for wastewater and S-4 and D-4 for water.
Compensation: Salary $45,900 plus additional considerations to be determined based on knowledge and experience of the applicant.
Job Description Summary: Grant Township, Keweenaw County Michigan, is currently accepting resumes for a Wastewater/Water Utility System Operator to oversee and manage the day-to-day operation of Copper Harbor’s water distribution system and wastewater collection & treatment facility. This position requires the applicant to supervise the utility staff, interact with the public and utility customers, and coordinate with other municipal officials to ensure the efficient function of facilities and the timely distribution of resources. This position requires the applicant to frequently meet with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations.
Experience & Qualifications:
Applicants must be, or have to ability to become, certified in Michigan Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) Department certifications L-2 for wastewater and S-4 and D-4 for water.
Experience in municipal water distribution system operation and in wastewater treatment facility operation.
Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license or equivalent and pass background checks
Must have a high school diploma (post-secondary education is beneficial)
Applicants’ responsibilities to include but not limited to are as follows:
To supervise, plan, schedule, and review activities related to the operations and maintenance of the Copper Harbor water distribution system and wastewater system including transmission, distribution, storage and pump facilities and sewer collection system. In addition, they will ensure compliance with all regulatory agency’s requirements.
Provides administrative direction and technical assistance and training to staff, and perform related work as required
This position is responsible for the work of all assigned crews installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing utility systems and associated equipment
Establish and implement policies and procedures for Utility Operations with an ability to professionally communicate with utility customers, contractors, local and state governing bodies.
Plan, organize, and direct the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the utility systems and associated equipment, including grinder pumps
Evaluate the effectiveness of Utility Operations
Have general administrative knowledge and computer skills sufficient to utilize general office management software and the various regulatory compliance programs.
